John’s expertise includes oilfield equipment, downhole tools, business methods and medical devices. John has extensive experience dealing with patent eligibility issues under 35 U.S.C §101 and particularly in the area of business methods. He was the Group Director of the business methods examination group for several years while at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and also served as the Group Director for medical and surgical devices examination art units.
